Ways To Honor & Remember This Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a day to pause, honor, and remember those in the U.S. Armed Forces who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I have gathered a few local observances that you may be interested in attending this year.

The Chief Petty Officers Association of Elizabeth City is hosting this ceremony at West Lawn Cemetery. 


Memorial Day Parade

A Portsmouth tradition since 1884, this is one of the oldest Memorial Day parades in the country.

Ceremony at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. 

Virginia Beach

Tidewater Veterans Memorial Day Ceremony

Capt. Samson C. Stevens, Sr. USCG is slated as keynote speaker at this ceremony at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial. 

Memorial Day Commemorative Program

Colonial Williamsburg will honor the men and women of the United States military who sacrificed their lives in defense of our nation with a traditional wreath-laying ceremony.

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.
Rather we should thank God that such men lived.
